Our Stories - Zabowie Mills |
ANZ – Singleton
Zabowie started the School Based Traineeship program in 2005 through a partnership between the ANZ and Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES). Under the two year program Zabowie spent one day a week at the bank, half a day at TAFE and three and half days completing her HSC.
Zabowie is now employed full time at the ANZ Singleton branch and mentors other Indigenous youth within the community. Zabowie has gained invaluable skills and hands on experience that she will continue to build on throughout her career. Earlier in the year, Zabowie served the millionth customer at the ANZ Singleton branch. Zabowie was then presented with the opportunity to donate a million cents ($10,000.00) to her charity of choice on behalf of ANZ. Zabowie choose to donate this money to her local State Emergency Service.
The AES is committed to providing opportunities for young Indigenous workers throughout Australia and will continue to work with Corporate Australia to achieve this.
